A Spectacular Panorama Awaits You!

Come join us hiking to the finest view point on British Columbia's Pacific coast. Mt. Arrowsmith, 1817m (5960 ft), crowns Central Vancouver Island's Oceanside area. Rainforest Recently declared a Biosphere reserve by the United Nations, Mt. Arrowsmith and its watersheds encompass a unique blend of seaside, rainforest, and high alpine. We are here to help you see it all in one sweeping vista. We pick you up at your home or hotel and leaving the beaches behind, drive up into the deep forests of Cameron Lake. The giant trees of Cathedral Grove tower over us. Our hike begins at 1100m in sub-alpine forest. The trail climbs quickly to the wide open ridge above.

The view is stunning! The open Pacific sparkles in the west. To the east Georgia Strait lies a mile below with its beaches and islands.

Alberni Inlet As we hike up the ridge to the North Summit, known as Mt. Cokely, 1616m (5300 ft), the view just keeps growing! At the top, we stop to wine, dine, relax and take it all in. Arrowsmith's main summit stands before us, arms spread out around its snowfields and emerald lake. Alpine flowers are at our feet, the snow peaks of the coast surround us. Life is grand!

When we drop you off in the early evening, you KNOW the rewards far outweighed the work. Looking back up at the mountain, you know that:

Evening on the Mountain
  • No special gear or equipment is needed although supportive boots are recommended
  • We pick you up and drive you to the trailhead
  • The day hike is a comfortable challenge to the moderately fit
  • Your guide Tom Carter has 15 years of experience on the mountain
  • Certified in Wilderness First Aid
  • Approximate hiking time is 3 hours up and 2 hours down, allowing ample time for everyone to enjoy the walk, the lunch and the summit. No rush.
  • The hike is suitable for families and groups
  • We serve a delicious lunch of local seafood, organic produce, breads and wine - on a tablecloth!
  • We drive you back in time for supper
